More Progress Pictures

Just sharing some in progress pictures. We selected taupe for the kitchen/dining area. The slate fireplace and kitchen/dining/laundry/entrance areas all have set tile which is awautubg grout tomorrow. The slate shower and bathroom floor are set as well and also await tile. The interior paint is pretty much finished with the exception of bathrooms. It's moving right along.

Picking Paint

This is a very important task. The wrong paint color can make guests queasy and your home irksome. The paint will come from Sherwin-Williams and I have my wheel. I have to choose colors by tomorrow.
The photos are from the SW paint visualizer. The dining room will have half wainscotting half paint. The same color will flow through to the kitchen. So which one? I wanted green originally, however the scheme of the lower level is earthy. Yes green is part of the earth and so is blue but those are for the bedroom and bathroom. If you feel so inclined please give your opinion.

Days 2 and 3- Demolition Derby

We managed to take out all of the upstairs and stairway carpet, vinyl, tile and laminate floors today. We also used an odor eliminating cleaner to freshen it up. Getting rid of the carpet really helped. We washed the mildewed cabinets with Murphy's Oil Soap.
Then we scrubbed the countertops took down light fixtures, removed switch plates, ceiling fans, and hooray hooray no more stone fire place!

Changing the locks and staking a claim

Erika takes down the HUD Home for Sale sign and helps Raul change the locks.

Meet House Charming

This is House Charming. When we finish the colors will be different, repairs complete, land scaped, and this frog will become a princess.

Day 1- Closing on House Charming

Today is the first day of our homeowner/home renovation experience. We closed today at 12:30, our loan officer gave us a shot glass (I've been a little high strung for the last 60 days :)) We went to Home Depot to purchase new locks. We also tested paint colors and opened the storage shed out back. (We were dying to know what was in there.) It was empty-whew! We will begin work immediately tomorrow. Our inspiration comes from a year long subscription to This Old House. Our house is around 20 years old. Enjoy the before pics.
