Blue and white bedding
This is where I sleep deeply and restore myself. The bedding is Laura Ashley. I found the pillows at Ross and the headboard is made from a door and decorating wainscoting trim. My bed sits up on a hercules frame, with a pillowrop mattress and a foam topper. Having a bed I love makes it easier to make it daily.

Relaxing handmade bath tray
This is my place to relax. I wanted a bath tray, but didn't want to splitge when I could DIM. The trick was to stain the plywood cut to the width of the tub. After that dried, I decoupaged 3 scrapbook papers from Hobby Lobby. I allowed the whole thing to dry for a while in the garage because wood stain has a strong odor.

Front porch charm back porch inspiration
This front porch (painted by my hubby) is very inspiring. The white on white wicker furniture against the white wooden porch is very traditional--southern. The playful aqua color on the ceiling screams come on over y'all.
It's playful and comfortable and it won't make your neighbors angry.
Why post this? Well the next project in the works is to paint the concrete patio.
The concrete is a bit stained by greenery and paint projects galore. I think paint is just the thing to revive the concrete and pull together the outdoor room efforts I have attempted. My husband is a fan of red, and while I love colorful accessories I lean toward neutral backgrounds.
I plan to use a solid concrete stain that's about $35.00 per gallon and I will need two. These are the colors I am considering:

St. Augustine, FL.--A charming vacation.
My family and I made a quick getaway to St. Augustine last week. I have always been curious about it because of it's Spanish origins. I really loved the laid back, easygoing feeling of this area. It was interesting to tour the "Old City." A trip to the beach is always restorative.

Container garden Splendor on the patio
These are my spring 2014 container gardens. I have included portulaca, spikes, Mexican heather, coleus, daisies, lemon balm, Greek oregano, basil, lemon thyme, polka dot plant, creeping jenny, and asparagus fern. These are the plants after a week of planting. I added sweet potato vine a couple of weeks later.
I spray painted my pots and added glow in the dark stars.
A trip to the Atlanta Botanical Garden in May
May is a wonderful time to visit the Atlanta Botanical Garden. The whimsical topiary sculptures and the roses are worth the membership all by themselves.
